Flash movie problems

NOTE: This is my first experience working with Flash in PowerPoint.

(1) I have a kiosk-style PPt file with a Flash movie that plays
automatically in the first slide. After playing, the Flash movie stays on
the last frame (which is great) until, either by mouse click or auto advance,
the second slide is displayed. Why does the first frame of the Flash movie
appear for a split second as the slide advance takes place--destroying the
continuity between that last frame of the movie on the first slide and the
mapped image of that last frame on the second slide?

(2) I have found that if I make an edit to the aforementioned PPt file and
run it in Slide Show mode from the first slide containing the Flash movie, on
subsequent viewings, the movie will only play a couple of seconds before it
hangs--requiring that the Flash movie be deleted, reinserted and any
necessary settings re-established to put everything back the way it was. My
workaround has been to save a .pps version every time I save a .ppt version
and only view the file in Slide Show mode from the .pps version. Any
suggestions in this regard?

Thanks,
Doug

What are you using to play the flash file?

I guess Shockwave is the answer. I insert the Flash file by selecting
"Control Toolbox --> More Controls --> Shockwave Flash Object"

Check here for lots of details on using Flash in PPT: www.flashgeeks.com

Also download and run the free 'flashback' add-in (needs to be installed on
viewing computer, functionality does not go with presentation):

I would also recomend using the Flash insert tool in Shyam's toolbox (which
has many useful add-ins) to simplify the insertion process and possibly
eliminate some of your problems: http://skp.mvps.org/toolbox/index.htm

Thank you. The Shyam's Toolbox rectified both problems. The downside is my
client will have to purchase, download and install this software on all his
computers to get the same viewing experience that I did. I'm still holding
out for another remedy. Converting the file to AVI is an option since there
is no interactivity in the Flash file, but I've downloaded and installed four
differenct Flash-to-AVI converters with success ranging from "No Success" to
"Hardly Any Success". Any suggestions in that regard? Again, thank you. It
is nice to see what the movie is supposed to look like when it plays in the
PowerPoint file.
