I suddenly was unable to place .swf files into Powerpoint on my mac and
did a lot of web searching and did not find any answers, but found a
lot of postings from the past few years with no helpful answers.
The problem, I found was with Quicktime. Quicktime has been shipping
with "Flash enabled" turned off, which should be toggled on in the
Quicktime preferences. Since Quicktime manages Flash in Mac
Powerpoint, with the toggle off, Powerpoint gave a message saying it
did not recognize the format.
