Flickering Outline Toolbar Word 2003

In Outline View ONLY, the OUTLINING toolbar flickers... that is, it blinks.
None of the other toolbars do that. I reset the toolbar, but no change to the
flickering.

I have multiple toolbars on the screen, but only the OUTLINING toolbar
flickers. All the others act normally.

This is bizarre to say the least. Any ideas??

Word 2003 SP1 / Windows XP SP2
No graphic card or driver problems...
