Flippin' Triangle on Inbox

I have recently switched to Entourage from Apple's Mail and have a question regarding the flipping triangles next to the days in the inbox (Today, Yesterday, Saturday, etc.). When I click on the triangle to close up a particular day to make my inbox more tidy it looks great. But when I close the Entourage window and reopen all of the day folders have been "flipped" open again. I want them to stay closed until I click on the triangle again. Is there a way to make them stay closed until I open them?

This stupidity has been with us since Entourage was introduced, but it's
gotten worse as of late. I just don't understand why it is seemingly so
freaking hard for the Office team to have Office applications *remember*
the state of its own freaking windows! If I resize a window, it should
remember that size! If I close certain groups, it should remember which
groups I've closed! Office 2008 seems to be extremely careless with user
preferences! I really hope one day the Office team will reverse this
trend...

Thanks for the info Jolly Roger. What a bummer! That's one of the biggest annoyances with Entourage for me. You're right that the user should be able to customize more of the settings. I guess it's either get used to it or switch back to Mail.

Not that I'm aware of, but are you aware that you can quickly choose Expand
All or Collapse All from the View menu? And you may be able to assign
shortcuts via the Keyboard & Mouse System Preference Panel.
