Floating section

In a 2 column text, I have to incorporate a section (graphics and table)
spanning across both columns. I included it as a one-column section, but as
text/graphics are added above, the section moves down, creating
window/orphan problems as well as continuity problems. Is there any way to
'anchor' that one-column section to the top of page?

Any help will be appreciated.
Sincerely

Thomas

I would use a textbox for this. You can define the layout of the textbox so
that it is positioned relative to the page.

A frame would work as well, and it has the advantage of being (a) visible to
the user in Normal view and (b) visible to Word for purposes of TOC,
cross-references, etc., which is especially important if the one-column
section is a heading.

Thanks, Suzanne and Jon!

Frame did not work; for some reason the table was not happy within the frame
and lost its formatting (or rather it acquired a new one). However, text
box worked fine.

You may have been using the wrong (Web) kind of frame. The kind you want is
the kind inserted using the Insert Frame button on the Forms toolbar or the
Frame item you can add to the Insert menu using Tools | Customize.

If you are using Word 2000 or later and make a table wrapped, you're in
effect putting it in a frame.
