flowchart connectors

I'm making a flowchart (first time), and want to connect
with arrows. I have autoshapes in place. Free standing
arrows do not always align. I believe I want to use
"connectors" but they are "greyed out" when I go to use
them. What do I need to do to access/use these?

Karen,

Connectors are only available if using the drawing
canvass. If tools>options>general "automatically create
drawing canvass when inserting autoshapes" is not checked,
then insert a drawing canvass using Insert>Picture>New
Drawing. Put your autoshapes on the canvass and then use
the connectors.
