Folded Booklet Printing

I am attempting (in vain) to print a document in folded booklet format.
However, I am not having much luck. The printer prints the 1st 2
pages eg pages 1 & 3 in a 4 page document on 1 side, then stops,
indicating that it has finished the job. When I check the Print
Manager it tells me that it is still printing when obviously it is not.
Print preview shows the document as a booklet. This is the same for
all other applications such as Excel. I am using Office 2003.

Any help would be gratefully received.

My printer's help page on Duplex/Booklet printing says this:

"Duplex/Booklet

"The Duplex feature allows you to print on both sides of a sheet of paper as
well as determine its binding edge. When the Guide Paper checkbox is
checked, a guide page is printed before the print job to tell you how to
print manual duplex job."

Do you have an option to print the Guide Paper?
