Folder is empty

I posted this question the other day, but it seems to have disappeared:

"A user misplaced his laptop (A) and had to borrow another (B). On laptop
B, he created a folder in the Inbox called, let's say AllMyMail and moved
[sic] all his email into it. Later he found laptop A. He opened OL on
laptop A and dragged [sic] AllMyMail into Archive. Now, AllMyMail is empty
and his Inbox on A and B contain only the emails received since AllMyMail was
created. Any ideas where the email might be? I've run a search for *.pst on
Laptop B with no luck. I'll search Laptop A as well but it's not here right
now."

I've searched hidden files on both laptops and can't find any .pst files
containing the missing emails.

Could the user have mistakenly dragged his AllMyMail folder and dropped it
into Outlook Today instead of Archive?

If you say he dragged it into an archive, then click
Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive and look where the archive is. Then open
Windows Explorer and enter that exact path (minue the PST itself, of course)
into the address bar. Click Go. You'll see the PST there.

Check for one or more OST (Outlook Storage) files at C:\documents and
settings\usernamehere\\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
You will need to have hidden files and folders visible or you will not see
any folder called "Local settings" in the user's profile folder. Make sure
you know which account the person was using when they logged on to the laptop
- you want to be looking in the correct profile folder obviously. If you
find the OST just copy it to the computer you want their mailbox to be
restored to (in the same location).
