Folder Permission Woes

B

Beaux

Server 2000 with 2002 extensions.

I asked for write permissions so that I could use frontpage to upload files
to a folder on the web, through the browser.

Hostmaster notified me that he had set it up. I then tried, using his test
page, to upload a file and got promted for User/Pass and then told I didn't
have proper permissions.

Notified Hostmaster and he wanted to know what I had changed, since he had
succesfully uploaded.

To date, I still cannot upload, and when I look a the permissions they are
the same as before he "set it up".

Any suggestions I can pass on to hostmaster, since it seems he doesn't know
what permissions to set, and I am no server admin?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Give Hostmaster step-by-step instructions to repeat what you're doing, and
ask him to try them using your account.

Thanks, How should I put this.....

Let's just say that my hostmaster doesn't hold my opinion or requests in
very high regard.

I have been trying for 2 weeks to just get the permissions on 1 folder set
so I could use frontpage to create an "upload" page in the website.

It is kind of strange that he was able to use a page in the web to upload,
but I cannot do the same thing with the same page. Could it be that he is
accessing the page from within their own network that is the difference?

It's hard to say, but I suspect it's more a matter of him using an admin
account.

Have you tried this?

1. Open the remote site directly in FrontPage.
2. Right-click the folder where you want the uploaded files to appear,
then choose Properties.
3. Clear any check boxes that are selected.
4. Select the check box titled Allow Anonymous Upload To This Directory.
5. Click OK.

I am unable to access those boxes... Greyed out.

Well, it may be a moot point since recent changes at our hosting provider
have promted us to move our co-located server to another company.

Thanks for the input.

Actually, that's a remedy I was preparing to suggest.
