Folder View Option - Read Items vs. Total Items

I am wondering if it is possible to for folders (in the folder list) to
display the total number of items rather than the total number of unread
items?

For example, currently my inbox has one unread message in it so in the
folder list it is displayed as:

Inbox (1)

However there are 11 items in the inbox as a whole. Is there anyway for the
folder list to display:

Inbox (11)

Clearly Entourage knows how many items are in the folder as this is
displayed in the bottom left of the application window. I know this option
is available in Outlook but I have not been able to find it yet in Entourage
2008. I am hoping that I am just missing it, rather than it being missing.
If it is missing is anyone aware of a workaround?

From the GTD perspective knowing how many unread messages I have is useless
however knowing how many items are in a folder is important.

Thanks for your help.

I just posted an article, "Assign a category with a keyboard shortcut."
<http://tinyurl.com/56ooyq> In the article I discuss using the GTD trio
folders:

1) Follow-up, for those messages that still require action from us
2) Hold, for emails that require action from someone else
3) Archive, for everything else

I included links to download scripts to set these categories. You can create
a custom search and save it as a custom view for these categories. This will
help you organize your Inbox into meaningful order.

Other wise, you can toggle Unread off and view all your messages, but then
that doesn't tell you much. IMHO.

Hope this helps!

Diane,
Thanks for the reply, unfortunately that solution does not work well for
me. I am already using the three folders you mentioned - Action, Waiting
for and Archive. What I am trying to do is get a "quick view" look at how
many action e-mails I have. These are items that I have already "read" but
have not "processed" unfortunately there is no way to switch the folder so
that it shows total items vs. unread items. This is something I would
classify as a future feature request.
