Folders available in Explorer

Marco

Hello all,

I created a document workspace on WSS 3.0 and used the SharePoint workspace
from Groove 2007 to share the documents.
Everything is working fine, but I would like to have a folder in the Windows
Explorer to easily copy documents, save documents directly from Word into
the folder (and automatically in the Groove workspace).

Does anyone know how to access the Groove workspace from Word or any other
program like it's a 'normal' folder?

Thanks in advance,
Marco.

Hi,

When using a "standard" groove workspace, the only way to edit your
documents with Word is to open them from the Groove workspace. When
modified in Word, Groove will ask you if you want to update the
corresponding file in the workspace (and "share" this new version with
other workspace members). If you say "no", the file in Groove will stay
unmodified (and you will therefore lose your modifications when you exit
Word).

You can not access directly a file stored in a Groove workspace because
everything is encrypted on disk for security reason. The only way to
access it is through Groove.

There is another type of groove workspace called "File sharing
workspace" that directly maps to a windows directory (so you see and can
edit shared files directly from Windows explorer). It is a limited to
file sharing (you can not add other tools in this workspace) and I am
not sure you will be able to connect it to sharepoint...

Hope this helps

Hello Francois-Xavier,

Thanks for your reply. This answers my question. It's clear to me.
