Follow-up function

Just wondering : is there something already in MSP03 pro (without
sharepoint/server) to trigger a follow-up automatically on task(s) sending
an e-mail to the task owner reminding him/her to do/call appropriate action
?

I have Workgroup add-in installed but the project manager has to select
tasks and send manually a reminder to task owner for an update.

I was thinking of putting our Customer Quotes auto follow-up in MSP main
Project list.

Or is that function already available in server/sharepoint version ?

Project Server has a fairly robust notification mechanism. Each user can
decide what they want to receive automatic notifications for. The options
include new or modified tasks, tasks about to start, overdue tasks and a
similar set of variations for status report requests just to name a few. For
more information you can take a look at the Team Members Guide in the Microsoft
Office Project Server 2003 Resource Kit.
