Followup Flag and reminder

Hi,
I need a reminder on my message as a followup.Below is what I did.
I created a new message and send to my colleague and put a followup flag due
by next day on a specified time, but the followup appearing to him rather
than to me.
How to put a followup for myself for mails I create?

Pls help
I use WinXP with OL2003

You'll need to do it in the Sent Items folder.

My curiosity, what is the purpose of a Followup flag while drafting a
message - is it for reminding the recepient?

yes I think so. I hate using Reminders to manage work as I have come from
teaching Time Management and such an interruptions driven system does not
impress me as robust, reportable, manageable etc etc
