Font change after Merging

M

MergeIssue

I taught a student how to merge. The main doc. was set up correcting and had
a lettehead with a 24 point font. the letter was in 12 point font. The data
source doc. was done in 12 point font. When the merge was completed. the new
merged documents contained interspersed sentences with 24 point font. The
normal style was selected.
This student had the same problem at home and in my classroom. I do not
know what he could have done to have caused this. I have checked both
documents.

Any ideas? Thanks (using Word 2000)

Just as a workaround, it is probably worth trying the following:

Use Alt-F9 to show the underlying field codes - e.g. { MERGEFIELD myfield }
and
a. ensure that the MERGEFIELD myfield } text is formatted the way you want
b. change any text saying \*Mergeformat to \*Charformat
c. if necessary, add \*Charformat to fields that do not have \*Charformat
