Font changes when user tries to copy/paste from MS-Word

One of my users is trying to copy text from a Word document into a Rich text
box in a browser enabled form. The text gets copied but the font changes to a
Symbol type. The font in the original document is Arial. What could be
causing this issue and how can I solve it?

Hello,

That sounds strange... are the regional settings on the PC/server the same?

One work-around is to use Notepad as the copy-and-paste interface. Copy
text from word, paste into Notepad, re-copy from Notepad, paste into form.
That should get rid of any font issues, but you won't keep any Word font
settings this way.

Hi Gavin,

The regional settings are the same.

The problem with using Notepad is that it loses all other formatting such as
Bold, Italics, etc.

Is there something I can set in the form to handle this issue?

Hello,

Some other things you might be able to try:

1. Is the form set to browser-based or client-based? (check via Tools menu,
Form Options, Compatibility, Browser compatbility)
2. In the Rich Text Box properties, in the Display tab, advanced formatting,
try changing some of the checkboxes to see if that helps such as un-ticking
"Full rich text"
3. In the Rich Text Box properties, on the Advanced tab, in Input
recognition, Input Scope, check what input scope is being used. It should be
set to "Standard" but "IS_DEFAULT" might change something.

The other "extreme" option is to uninstall and reinstall InfoPath on that
user's PC.

Out of interest - what happens when you copy text from the Rich Text Box back
into Word? And what happens if you copy from word, paste into InfoPath, copy
from InfoPath, and then paste back into word? Are they still Symbols?

Gavin.
