Font changing when documents merge

Laura

Hi,

I am using MS Word 2003. I have 5 source documents and using a macro I am
merging them into a single document. I may only merge 2 documents or
sometimes all 5. The base document that is always included comes into the
final document 2 xs. For some reason the font is changing. On the final
document the base document is fine on page one (Times New Roman) when it
repeats on page two it changes to courier. The other documents do not repeat
but do have paragraphs that change from their original font to a courier. All
of the documents also contain merge fields which are functioning with no
problem.

I have tried selecting all on the 'template' documents and making sure that
the font is consistent. I have selected all on the 'template' documents and
applied a single Style & Format. I have even deleted the original document
after pasting the text into notepad and then moving the text back to MS Word
and re-formatting the whole thing. Nothing has worked.

Any ideas? TIA for any assistance.

Can you be more specific about the technique/command used to "merge" the
documents?

What font do you get if you just start a new document: TNR or Courier?

Are any of these files pure text files?

Cindy,

The font default on the Normal Template is TNR. All of the documents
contain merge fields, and the techinique is using a third party tool to open
a blank word document and run the macro. (Edit > Insert > File) Note: If I
manually do the steps for the macro I do not get the font changes.

I think, then, that you're going to have to contact the people from whom you've
gotten this tool. Without knowing what that macro doing, it's not possible to
make any suggestions about rectifying the problem.
