Font color shadow after pictures

Don

I selected the standard green color on Times Roman font for my Christmas
letter this year and it prints with a yellow shadowing once an inserted
picture is encountered in a paragraph. The next paragraph starts with the
normal green again until it encounters an inserted picture. I tried dark
green = same result, but red did not. Any suggestions? It looks like I'll
need to print in automatic (black) because that performs normal.

Hi Don,

What version of Word, Windows and what printer make/model?

If you choose another printer, including the MS Office optional install MS Office Document Imaging Writer or a print to PDF utility
do you see the same result?

Sorry about that,
I use Word 2003, updated to current releases and an HP Business Inkjet 1100

Hi Don,

And the results if you print to PDF or to MS Office Document Writer (optional Office 2003 install choice)?

Bob,

I'm just using the standard Office 2003 print output for this printer,
whatever that is.

Hi Don,

You can check the settings for your printer in File=>Print=>Properties in Word :)

The reason for asking to test with a 'virtual' printer (such as the optional install (Microsoft Office 2003 choice in Add/Remove
Programs in the Windows Control panel) or printing to a PDF file (free virtual PDF printers available from a few sites including
http://cutepdf.com
is to help see if the issue is printer/ink related, Word related, or possibly document (corruption) related.

I wasn't able to duplicate this problem, although I've seen similar ones where the printer uses the color cartridge to produce
'black' rather than having a separate black cartridge, but if you do get the same issue on another printer/virtual printer could you
post back with steps that reproduce the problem in a new document?

Bob,
I sorta lost you on the "virtual" printer install, but I did download the
CutePDF and used it. The result was the same. Interestingly, this yellow
shadowing only occurs when I select "Best" print quality, which I did to
optimize the photos. When I select "Normal" the shadowing does not appear.
In further experimentation, I change from "Green" to "Sea Green" on the
Office font color selections and the problem disappeared. And when I printed
to an Epson Photo R340 at "Best Photo" quality, the print was normal as well.

There appears to be a switch triggered by an inserted picture that
doesn't turn off yellow when using a green font with this specific program
and printer combination. The simplest solution, I guess, would be to avoid
the green font with pictures.

Thanks for you interest and help
Don
