Font Colour button

I am running Word 2003. I have a problem that is not more than a nuisance.
When I first open Word, if I click on the down-arrow of the Font Colour
button on the toolbar to pick a different colour for my font, nothing
happens. However, if I first open Font in the Format menu (and then close
it), then the down-arrow of the Font colour button on the toolbar works fine.
I had this exact problem when running Word 2000. I thought then that it was
something to do with my computer or OS. But now that I have Word 2003 and the
same problem, it makes sense that it is a problem with Word itself. Does
anyone know how to fix it?

I don't see that problem which makes me suspect that something is stealing
the focus when you open Word. Try testing in Safe Mode. From Start | Run,
type in

winword /a

and press enter. Does the arrow work now?
