Font Defaulting - Word 2000

Chris Stammers

Hello,
I am having trouble with a merge template. When I run the 'Merge to New
Document' function, the merge seems to randomly default the font in my
letters to Times New Roman 12pt. This font doesn't exist anywhere in the
document so I can't understand why this is happening. I have other templates
that don't suffer this problem, and I just can't work it out. The text in
question is within a text box however I have about 8 other templates that
contain text boxes and they don't have a problem. Any ideas?
Many thanks.
Chris

Is it only the data that is inserted into the mergefields that is in that
font? If so, add a \* Charformat switch inside the closing } of the fields
(Press Alt+F4 to display the field codes and apply the desired format to the
M of Mergefield.

Thanks Doug. In answer to your question, no, it isn't only the merge fields
that are affected; it is the hard coded titles in front of them as well,
though from what you say, could it be that the merge fields are affecting the
hard coded text as well? I will try your suggestion and see how I get on.

Thanks.

Doug,

I have tried that, and on closer inspection, it seems that it is only a
problem once I have merged the file, saved it and re-opened it. It all looks
fine when the merge is run. It makes even less sense now!

Regards,
Chris
