font does not scale with figure

I often try to scale back a powerpoint fig only to discover that the font
does not scale with the rest of the figure. Now, this can be fixed by
enlargin text boxes and selecting differnt font sizes - but this can really
be time consuming. Any tips on how to scale all items in the fiure the same
amount?
