font format issue - Mail Merge

Greetings all...

I ran into a bizarre issue today when putting a mail merge together.
set up my document, added the merge fields and then set about tweakin
some of the formatting.

Specifically, I wanted merge field fonts to be formatted in Times Ne
Roman, however, when I merged it into a new doc it shows up in Courie
New font despite the fact the field in the template is showing Time
New Roman.

Now, if I change the font to Arial, it merges as Arial and not Courie
New.

Am I crazy, or is the formatting of merge fields limited to particula
fonts?

How are you tweaking the formatting?

Using the \*Charformat switch and formatting the first non-blank character
in the field (typically the "M" of "MERGEFIELD") how you want is usually the
safest way. It's worth bearing in mind that \*Mergeformat actually tries to
use the same format as the previous field /result/, not the format of the
surrounding or immediately preceding text.
