Font in styles changing

I have defined styles in my normal.dot as well as the
template I am working with that apply to an electronic
letterhead. When I merge the document and letterhead (or
simply insert the letterhead file into a document, the
font changes from Times New Roman to Arial. The style
has also changed. Any suggestions as to why this is
happening and how to correct it would be appreciated.

Hi,

It seems that you are picking up the styles from the
database file (*.dat) that is required when merging. Look
at the dat file and make sure the styles and fonts in that
document are not conflicting with your letterhead document.

Word does not use a .dat file in merging. Are you perhaps thinking of
WordPerfect?
