Font in table header changes when I open the document!

Hi,

I have a very bizarre problem I was hoping the gods of Word could help
me decipher.

I have a hefty doc (2.5mb, 160pg) with extensive use of styles.

I set up a table style, based on table normal, that sets up the top row
of the table to be Gill Sans MT 8 and the rest to be Palatino (same as
my body text) but smaller.

However, I opened the doc this morning and the header row of the table
was in Gill Sans Ultra Compressed Bold!? I checked, and the style
itself had changed.

Then, after I had fixed that, I reopened the document this evening, and
the header row of the table had changed to Marlett, which is some
symbols font. Once again, it was the style itself which had changed.

I have also had problems with cross references randomly changing to
different styles (they should be "body text" since they're in the body,
but sometimes the cross references turn into "Caption" style).

Note: I have office 2003, but haven't applied SP2, as I'm working on a
major doc right now and don't want to risk anything. Anyone had any
good/bad experiences with SP2? I may install it after I finish this
doc.

thanks,
karl
