font issue

I've received a document that opens as "Parade" font. The document (all 145
pages) needs a complete reformat which is going to take hours, if not days,
to do. This document has been opened on the original PC and did not need the
reformating. However, the original PC has now been wiped clean. Could my
issue perhaps be that "Parade" is not one of the fonts installed with Office
2007? I am thinking that perhaps "Parade" was installed with a Greetings
Workshop installation to the original (now wiped clean with installation CD's
gone) PC. Could the acquirement of "Parade" solve my problem? If so, how do
I locate "Parade".

Googling "parade font" shows that you can buy it from Microsoft, or
from many other vendors.

What do you mean by "complete reformat"? I hope you don't have an
entire book set in it!

But if somehow Parade was your base font, if you simply change the
font in the Normal style to something that's available, maybe most of
the other paragraph styles are based on it and will change
simultaneously.

But you seem to say that when you _open_ the document on your
computer, it shows up in Parade -- which means Parade _is_ installed
on your computer, and you just need to find out what font was
originally used, and install _that_ font on your system.

Look in your fonts file to see if it's there. If not, Google for it.

According to http://www.microsoft.com/typography/Fonts/font.aspx?FMID=369,
the Parade font was included in the Microsoft Greetings 99 package and a few
others. It definitely does not come with any version of Office. That page
has a link to the Ascender Corp. web site where you can buy the font for
$20, if that's what you want to do.

The other possibility is to substitute a similar font (and, while you're
doing so, you can choose a much more readable font than Parade, which is a
display font meant for small amounts of text). Go to Office button > Word
Options > Advanced, scroll down to the "Show document content" section, and
click the Font Substitution button. Select the Parade font in the list box,
and choose a font in the Substituted Font box. I'd suggest something like
Verdana to replace Parade. Click the Convert Permanently button and answer
the prompts.
