Font list is slow

There are a few users where I work that are having trouble pulling down the
font list in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other office 2003 and 2007 programs.
They will click on the drop-down list and it will take anywhere from 10-30+
seconds for the list to appear. It is usually instantaneous and has not
given them any trouble. I don't think it is a Microsoft update issue because
these user's accounts can't install them. I reinstalled Office 2003 for one
user but the problem is still there. I ran a virus scan on another user's
computer and found a Trojan which has been taken care of but the problem is
still present. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Usually it is the symptom of a problem with a printer driver. Are they using
the same printer and it is networked?

All three are using network printers. They have the capability of using any
of them, but they have are using a specific one. Two are in the same
building using separate printers and the third is in a different building and
using a different printer. One of the two and the other building user use
the same model of printer but in their respective locations.

See if one of the users has a locally connected printer and set it as
Windows default to test if it is a printer issue.

And note that the drivers must be installed locally even if the printer is
on the network.

Thanks for your help, but I may have found the answer. We checked into our
request system and found that this was something that happened months ago
with a different technician. His solution in Office 2003
was...Tools-Customize-Other-List font names in their font. You are to
uncheck that it and it helps speed up the list. My question is, can this be
done in Office 2007 as well? The only thing I have found is to uncheck the
live preview option, but I can't find the option to not list fonts in their
style.

Anyone have any thoughts?
