In Mac WordX, how do I change the font menu to get rid of WYSIWYG
display? It is too slow and takes up too much room.

I know the feeling well. There is something about the never-ending
pointy-clickiness in Word that induces blindness.

You know -like if only something 'just worked' before blundering
through 1000 menus failing to see more and more about less and less.

Michael + Elliott,

Does holding down the Shift key show/hide WYSIWYG font display on this menu
in Word X, as in earlier versions?

[Note: Irony-deficient newsgroup participants should read no further.]

Elliott, I'm getting worried -- I think you should either revert to Word
2001 or increase those pills your doctor gave you (I'm down to only 20 a day
now I've decided to stay with 2001 till a year after the next major version
of Word comes out). Not that I disagree at all with what you say in relation
to Word 5.1a vs the rest. As you said a while back, "Word 5.1a was such an
improvement on its successors...".

Cheers,

Nope, and not only that, it does not come into effect till you stop and
start Word.

I knew I had to be careful with that 'blindness' reference. Too many
Aussies on this list.

One or two rumour sites are predicting an Office 11 announcement at
MWSF aka 6-Jan-2004. But I bet it will be like the G5 - finally
shipping months later.

This does't work for me. What does that line say? I find no
nothing pertinent.

Thanks.

I am not going blind--just stupid! I had just reponded to the initial post
with:

It would have helped if I had looked at Word Preferences rather than Outlook
Express Preferences. :=(

If you choose Preferences from the Word menu, then click on General
in the left-hand pane, the fourth checkbox from the bottom is
labeled "WYSIWYG Font and Style menus".

Uncheck that checbox.
