Font prints very large

Email Client: pop

I read through the message boards and saw that others have also experienced their e-mails printing in an unusually large font.

I also saw that someone suggested putting the e-mail into a "text editor" to remedy this problem.

I am embarrassed to admit that I don't know what that entails.

Is that the only way to make the text print out smaller.

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered and thanks for your time.

Select All. Copy the text in the email and paste it into a text editor like
the default application, TextEdit or Microsoft Word.

If you need more details, under Message in the Menu bar select "Source" copy
that and print.

Thank you again, for this and for the link to the new Mac users tips.

I am headed there now.

I will also think about using the concept of more is less in formatting. I suspect that after reading the HTML v. plain text article how it all works will become clearer.

I can't believe how lucky I was to have stumbled on this message board.

Thanks again.

My next tip is to use a newsreader to access this newsgroup. The Mactopia
interface is just that....an interface to a newsgroup. It's very easy to
access with Entourage's newsreader. This way you can download the old
messages and use Spotlight search.

How to subscribe to the Microsoft Entourage newsgroup

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/support_options/subnews.html>

These are the active newsgroups:

microsoft.public.mac.office
microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage
microsoft.public.mac.office.word
microsoft.public.mac.office.excel
microsoft.public.mac.office.powerpoint

Note: the Entourage newsreader is not full featured, but it's super easy to
access the Microsoft news server. If you have a favorite newsreader you will
probably find Entourage's features lacking. It's very basic.

The workaround I have applied in my organisation is to go to File/Page Setup and change the scale from 100% to 75%. You will only need to do this once.

I thank you as well. I will make the change in my settings.

Interestingly I think it only happens with e-mails that I respond to and print. It doesn't happen on ones that I print but have not responded to.

Dian - thanks for the tips on Newsgroups. I am headed to try it.

Hmmm, I just tested. Printed a new message I received. Printed in correct
size. Replied to an email and saved to draft. It printed OK too. Next, I
opened an email from "Sent" and it printed OK too.

Can you describe exactly the steps to create the large size when printing?

What version of Entourage. I know you select 2008, but what version. 12.1.2
is the latest. What printer? Exactly what version of Leopard. The latest is
10.5.5.

It happens with messages that replied to and are in my Sent folder.

The work around alleviated the problem.

I bought the MacBook last week. It had Entourage 2.1.0.

It does it on both my home (HP Photosmart D7260) and office (HP Laserjet 7605 dn)

I am embarrassed to admit I don't know which version of Leopard or where to find it.

You do need to update to 12.1.2. Under Help in the Entourage Menu bar select
"Check for Updates." The print problems I thought were included in the SP1
12.1.0 updater, but it's always best to keep updated as they include fixes.

To know exactly what version of Entourage you have (and it includes the OS),
download this script for Office 2008.

Download the compiled script and place it in the Script Menu Items folder in
the Microsoft User Data folder.

In case the above link does not work:

Here is an example of what you will get. Right now in Office 2008 all the
applications have the same version, but that is not always the case.
Sometime Word will get updated and Entourage will not. Very confusing. The
Microsoft Component Plugin is always updated so it's the true test to show
you updated properly.

Never be embarrassed to ask. I do encourage you to Google for the answer
first, but if you still can't find what you need, ask.

Easiest way is under the Blue Apple in the Menu bar. About this Mac will
tell you what version you have installed.

I go over this in my New2Mac & Entourage pages:

New2Mac & Entourage 101 <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/new2mac/101.html>
