We have a Windows 2008 Terminal Server running Office 2007. We had
documents that were created in Office 2007 under Windows XP and Vista. When
we try to open them on the terminal server, we get "not enough memory or
disk space to complete this operation." If we copy the contents from the
original document into a new document and save it, it is okay but some of
the formatting is changed. The original font is Arial. Can anyone shed some
light on this incompatibility and what might be done about it?

The change in formatting is probably because the 'new' document has slightly
different style settings.

But that is probably a red herring. The problem is why you cannot open the
older documents. The error message is a catchall for when Windows doesn't
know what is wrong. Were the old W2007 documents moved? Were they doc or
docx? Are they perhaps not opening because you have changed servers of
folders around and the documents cannot find their attached templates?

I think perhaps the templates may be the issue. I'll check into
that possibility. Thanks!

To add to what I said earlier: They were moved from the laptop to
the terminal server. I don't think any templates other than the normal were
used. It doesn't matter if its doc or docx. We opened the document on the
laptop and the terminal server and saved as a .docx and it was still no
good. When logging on directly to the terminal server, it is not a problem;
its only when logging in remotely. That suggests it could be a Terminal
Services issue as well, I suppose.

Yes, you could well be correct. TS handles Word and the temp file quite
differently. I don't know that much about TS - though I did use it for a few
a little while. There should be a TS specific newsgroup that may be able to
point you to the problem. It does sound like a configuration problem.
