Font problems when opening Microstation .dgn files

Hello All,

We're considering moving to Visio for our Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.
We have been using Microstation for ~10 years so all of our current drawings
are in Microstation .dgn files. When we open the files in Visio and then
convert them to Visio files all fo the text is rendered in Arial font. All of
the current text is using Microstation's "Intl_Engineering" font. Due ot the
different proportions this causes the text to become out of proper alignment.

So, is there a way to have these fonts displayed correctly? If not, is there
a Windows font that is the same or similar enough to that Microstation font?

Thanks,

I don't have an answer to your question. However, since you said you are
considering moving to Visio from Microstation, I want to point out that
Visio 2002 is the last version with support for viewing and converting DGN
files. If you get Visio 2003, you'll need to save your files in DWG format,
which I believe Microstation is now capable of doing.

Yes, I noticed that while researching things today - but thanks for the heads
up. That would have been a bummer of a surprise. We have Visio 2002 right
now. Our real problem is that after a change of consultants we've now found
ourselves to be without any of our Microstation installation disks. We were
using an older release anyways, so if we're going to have to buy something we
thought that now would be a good time to evaluate moving to something more
modern. We just have to figure out this font issue.

Thanks again.
