Font problems with PDFs

I'm using Word X on OS X 10.2.8 and when I create PDFs of
Spanish, German, Italian documents, the accents and umlats
are shifted in the PDF. Everything looks fine in Word, just
the PDF is messed up. I've tried Arial and Futura fonts
with pretty much the same results. If I open the PDF in
Illustrator the Font is listed as "BBFMTL+Arial" (and
doesn't appear as Arial). I've created the PDF both through
the print (Save as PDF) as well as creating a postscript
file and creating it through distiller. Anyone??

one thought:

What print driver are you using? If you have Acrobat, try using the
Adobe PDF printer instead of your standard one.
