Font problems

I have had a sudden glitch in Publisher 07 that's never happened before: when
I open an existing publication (also created in Pub. 07), I get a popup that
tells me "One or more embedded fontd used in this publication are
preview-only..." and then it goes on to tell me what that means. If I click
"Cancel," I can't get into the file; if I click "OK" the file opens, but I
can't edit it. Thing is, I didn't CHANGE A THING when I saved the file
previously, and it was working just fine! I've tried everything I can think
of, but nothing helps. (Yes, I've tried going into the "Commercial Printing
Tools" on the menu as the help file suggests...but the "Fonts" menu is greyed
out.) This is a CRITICAL issue, as my publication needs to go to print
tomorrow! Any thoughts, other than deleting Publisher and re-installing it??

Is the file "read only"? It would be if you had stored the file on a removable
disk.

What happens if you select a different printer as default before you open
Publisher?

Mary--
1. No, I never moved or copied the file at all...it is not read-only.
2. When I print the document on my printer, the headline fonts are
different and oddly-spaced and many of the fonts print as either Times or
something that looks like a system sans serif. I have no oither printer to
print to.
3. I even tried printing as .pdf, but it fails (that's ALSO never happened
before)

Today, I got the Blue Screen of Death with the following STOP information:
0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xBF8E000C, 0xA616EC3C, 0x00000000)

win32k.sys - Address BF8E000C base at BF8000000, Datestamp 48ce513a

I'm going to try uninstalling Office 2007 and re-installing...tho I'm
getting a sinking feeling that the whole system is going south..........

Thanks, Mary...tho I did end up uninstalling then reinstalling Office 2007, I
still had the same problem. Ended up basically slapping Publisher into
submission :) so I could get my document out...but will attempt the cleanup
recommended. (And yes, I'm running Norton. Do you have a suggestion for an
antivirus program that won't create as many problems as Norton?? My
subscription is just now up for renewal, so this would be a good time to
switch if that would help.)

Joan, I don't know much about virus programs. I used Norton for years without
one bit of trouble. When Microsoft came out with OneCare, I bought it and have
been using it for about a year without issue. It can be installed on three
computers.
Lots of folks use this:

Symantec has a removal utility. I would advise using it before installing new
software.

It could be if you disable the Office plug-in in Norton your problems will be
over.
