Font problems

Why is it that when I cut a portion of a document in Times New Roman 14
point font and paste it, it changes to Times New Roman 12 upon pasting
it. How can I ensure this doesn't happen? I'm using MS Word 2004 on a
Mac OSX version 10.3.4.
