Font Properties

I have a string of text that has a specific color. Highlighting that text
allows me to see that specific color in 'Format Text' but I see no way to
'capture' for future use in 'WordArt' and other works. I would like it to
appear in the color palette. Guidance sought

With the coloured text selected, you could save this as new Character Style,
giving it any name you wish to remember it by.
The character style can store the font, font size, colour, etc. that you
wish to maintain.
Character style instead of a paragraph style so when you select new text and
apply only this text gets the style applied not the whole paragraph.
I believe that Word Art would not be the best function for what you want.

Hi Maurice,

Dean's suggestion will enable you to easily use the color in Word documents.
If you are looking for the "specifications" of the color for use in another
application, you can get the RGB numbers of the color in the following way.
1) Select the text with the color.
2) Press Ctrl+D to open the Font dialog box.
3) Under Font color, click the drop-down arrow.
4) Click Other Colors.
5) On the Customize tab, you can see the RGB numbers of the color, which you
can use to duplicate the color in other applications.

Much thanks for the timely reply. I was able to copy the colored text to a
new word 2007 document, highlight the text, 'then save selection as a new
quickstyle'

I then selected 'Word Art' and entered the text, then clicked quick style.
Not sure how to get the selected color into the word art item. Continued
guidance sought

Hi Maurice,

Follow the steps in my previous rely to obtain the three RGB numbers. To add
WordArt. Then perform the following steps.
1 .Place your cursor where you want to insert the WordArt in the document.
2. On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click WordArt.
3. Select any WordArt style.
4. In the Edit WordArt Text dialog box, type the text that you want to
appear in the WordArt element, click OK, and leave the new element selected.
5. Under the WordArt Tools - Format tab, in the WordArt styles group, click
Fill Shape.
6. Click Colors.
7. On the Customize tab, enter the three RGB numbers that you obtained from
the original colored text and click OK.
