I choose a background color for all the slides. No problem. I choose a font size and color for all the slides, check off the default box in the font window, but have to redo this every time I add a slide. It keeps on reverting to size 44 font and black as the color. Any suggestions?

Since you didn't mention which version of PPt this is I'm just guessing that
you're using PPt 2004 - Otherwise it may not be exactly the pertinent reply.

The Default checkbox you refer to specifically refers to "Default for new
text objects", meaning Text Boxes & other shapes you create yourself. It
does not pertain to the Title, SubTitle or Content *placeholders* included
on slide layouts. That's why the checkbox is dimmed if you access the
Format> Font dialog while in a placeholder rather than a drawn shape.

In order to globally change the default formatting for the placeholders on
new [as well as existing] slides you need to format the corresponding
placeholder on the Slide and/or Title Master. Have a look in PPt Help by
searching on the keyword "master" & exploring the topics you'll find.
