Font Size in Mergefield

Hello,

I am feverishly attempting a mail merge having not done one in years an it was on a pc.

Everything is merging, however, the font size of the inserted merge field is very big! As shown in help, I've highlighted the field and changed the font size to what I want, however, it only stays on that page and won't apply itself to the next record.

I then added \*MERGEFORMAT to the field and it will bring the first word to the correct size, but the balance of the words remain BIG!

Looking forward to any suggestions, thank you!

Hi Diana,

If you still need help with this--

What's your data source?

What type of merge are you doing?

Changing the font size should apply to all records of the merge--I
wonder if the merge might not be set up quite right.

Hi Diana -

How about a little more info? I'm having trouble visualizing the issue :)

Are you merging to a form letter, labels or envelopes?

What are you using for a record source?

Can you clarify what you mean by "it only stays on that page and won't apply
itself to the next record."? How are you comparing a record to a page?

When you say "first word" as opposed to "balance..." do you mean within the
same field or one field to another?

Hello,

Thank you for the replies. A friend and I fumbled our way through it. In the merge field I changed \*MERGEFORMAT to \*CHARFORMAT and it did the trick.

I was from my Word address book to a letter that had one merge field which was to pick up the first name only. However, if there was more than one word in first name field from the address book, ie Bob & Betty, Bob would come in font size 12, but "&" and "Betty" would be a 16.

I am using Word 2004 for Mac. The data merge manager calls each item in the address book a record. So when I was fixing one record in the data merge field, the change wouldn't apply itself to the next record.

Anyway, thanks again for the replies!
