font size in themes

I've used the Themes for each of my websites and have been happy with the
designs. However, one thing I've wondered about is the default size of the
fonts included in the themes. When I look at professional websites, the text
body font is always much smaller. (I usually set my browser font size to
Medium)

Is there a reason the theme fonts were designed this way? If I change the
size of the headings and body to smaller sizes, will I be creating any
problem I don't anticipate?
