Font size within tables

For some reason ppt is not keeping the font size for my table. It's not an
object, I'm creating the table within powerpoint. Nothing fancy just 2
columns and 5 rows with text in it of varying size (bullet list). The slide
layout picked was just the "title only" so it can't be the formatting from my
slide master messing it up. Why will it not keep the smaller size font? It
switches to the bigger font for all the text. Can I not have multiple size
fonts in a table in ppt within the same cell?

You should be able to have different font sizes in the same cell.

When exactly is the font size changing?

And actually, tables pick up their initial settings based on the text
placeholder in the slide master, even if you use just the Title Only layout.
The tables use those placeholder settings as a default starting place
regardless. But it should maintain the settings if you change the font in
the cells manually. Odd....

I don't see it change before my eyes, but I would guess upon save. When I
open the file, the font changes, though the other day it did it while I was
still in the ppt.

The title only slide doesn't have a placeholder for text just a placeholder
for the title. So it shouldn't be picking up any default.

Anywho, I have 2 different PPTs with the same behavior, so it's not file
specific.

Any help will be great. These ppts go to Sr. Mgmt. and though not the end of
the world, having those quirks just makes me feel unprofessional with a
crappy product. The perfectionist in me. :)

Ah, then I think you may have run into a bug, but I admit I've not seen it
happen on PPT 2000. (Was that a typo? Are you really using PPT 2002 or
2003?)

Basically, the bug is that the wrong slide master is getting reapplied to
the slide(s) when you save and reopen. Since the tables pick up their
settings from the slide master placeholder -- even though you're not
actually *using* that placeholder -- it's causing the font to change size
when you save and reopen the file. I know you're using Title Only, and thank
you for specifying that (!!), but with tables, I don't think it really
matters. That's my gut feeling, anyway.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243657/en-us has some workarounds -- and
look, this support article is for PPT 2000! So it's definitely a bug that
could be hitting you in PPT 2000. It says SP1/1a resolves it, so maybe SP3
re-introduced it?

Here's the 2003 version of the support article, just in case:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827759/en-us

If you're using PPT 2003, you might try creating a new master that's
specifically for the table slides. I don't know if that would work or not in
this case, since you want different text sizes in a cell. Shoot, you might
have to resort to ungrouping the table. (Copy, paste special as EMF,
ungroup.) Of course, do that on a copy of the table so it's easy to get back
to the original to make changes if necessary.
