Font Smoothing in Excel

I have my iMac set to stop font smoothing below 10pt. Excel 2008 seems to ignore this setting and I can find no way of changing this. The result is that speadsheets with fonts of 10pt look as though the ink has run! I am using Arial by the way. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks

Hi,

same as JimR! Today I installed excel 2008. I stoped fonts smoothing in OS X Leopard for fonts less than 12 but Excel ignores that :-((( so all my spreadsheets look absolutely terrible.

Isn't there anyone who could help us?

@ Jim: what machine do you use? what OS?

Same problem here. Just got my new copy of Office: mac 2008 today, and can
find no way of turning off font-smoothing in Excel. Word respects the System
Preferences just fine, but Excel doesn't. Any help here?
