Hi All...I see that people are having lots of font issues in Entourage. Me
too and it's very frustrating. Here's my story. Any help would be
appreciated since I sure don't find anything useful in the Font FAQ at MS
MVP Entourage page http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/f.html.

If I create an HTML message and set font size to Medium, recipients on PCs
say that the screen font is about 5 point and is illegible. I appreciate the
72 vs. 96 dpi difference between the two machines. If I paste text from
Entourage mail message to Word (at Medium size), it is pasted in at 9.5
points.

If I switch to ³Larger² font size, then text is pasted into a Word doc at
14.5 points. This seems to be legible on PCs in received emails, but this
seems like an awfully large font. When I use PCs at work, I compose my
messages in Arial 10 point, so it seems that 14.5 point would seem like
shouting.

[As an aside, what bright spark MS Product Mgr. decided to switch to
labeling font sizes Smallest, Smaller, Medium, Larger and Largest after all
these years of using numeric descriptions of points? This seems really
dopey. Maybe he/she is eating at the local junk food emporium too much. But
I digress.]

In "General Preferences:Fonts" I can select the HTML Messages (Proportional)
font size in the normal point-size increments (9, 10, 12, 14). But messages
composed at these sizes do not paste at these sizes into Word documents.
Instead, they paste as follows:

Format Entourage Entourage Text Pastes
Default Drop-Down from Entourage
Setting Box into Word as...
____________________________________________________
Text 12 NA 12 (0)
HTML 18 Medium 14.5 (-3.5)
HTML 14 Medium 11 (-3)
HTML 12 Medium 9.5 (-2.5)
HTML 10 Medium 8 (-2)

Note that when composing messages with different default HTML font sizes,
the Entourage drop-down menu does not change to reflect the size of the font
in the message.

If I switch to Text message from HTML, the message is legible on my Mac. But
will the PC user get a legilble message?

All in all, this font implementation in Entourage is simply TERRIBLE and
very poorly thought out. The lack of consistency between MS applications
(Entourage to Word), the lack of consistency even within Entourage (default
vs selecting text size in message vs. no updating of font drop-down menu
size), and the lack of screen or print consistency between Mac and PC is
VERY FRUSTRATING.

All I want to do is make sure that my message arrives in a readable format
on PCs. How do I do this reliably? This should be very simple. Is Plain Text
the safest approach?
