Font wont work!!??

Hoping someone can help??...

I've installed a font 'BD Brick' into my font book, I can see it in drop down menu of fonts yet when I try to use it it doesn't work!..just defaults to Century Gothic I think? (it used to work fine in Office 2004, just installed 20008 today!)??

All other new fonts that I've installed into font book seem to work OK.

I've tried to install this font into my system FONT folder in LIBARY folder but it won't let me upload it???

Any ideas??

Mucho thx

Have you repaired permissions & restarted your Mac since installing the
upgrade?

BTW - don't even try to modify your System Fonts folder. All fonts should be
installed in the User/Library/Fonts folder or the appropriate application's
fonts folder if it uses one.

Sorcerer2008

I would like to report the same problem with more data.
I just installed Office 2008 for Mac.
I am running OSX 10.4.11
I have installed all updates to OSX and all updates to Office
I have run font doctor on all font folders to verify font integrity and I have verified that my font is in all user and system folders

I have a font family, Barmeno that has 5 versions of the font - regular, light, bold, extra bold, etc.

I have many presentations that have the Extra Bold as the title font in the Master for the presentation. All fonts in this folder show up in the fonts menu - all fonts work when selected with the exception of Barmeno Extra bold.

This font (Barmeno Extra Bold) works in Word, Excel, Entourage. It doesn't not work in PPT and when selected a substitute font is placed instead.

I have done a cursory scan of other non-standard fonts in my library and all appear to work - this is not an extensive or comprehensive statement by any means so there could be other fonts that don't work and I would not catch that. But scanning the WYSIWYG menu most fonts seem to be showing up correctly. The Barmeno Extra Bold shows up WYSIWYG in the font menu.

I have run cocktail - which by the way fixed alot of other problems after the installation of MSO2008.

Hi Sorceror :)

Thanks for the detailed report. Would you be willing to send me the fonts
that you observe working in other Office apps but not in PPT? This is open
to anyone who is seeing this same issue. Please send to june.low AT
microsoft DOT com.

We've seen several reports of this and this would help us in our
investigations.

Thanks!

This is a follow-up (thanks for sending me your font).

There an issue with the font names coming from the font code vs what's in
the system. The font code in this case is returning "Barmeno ExtraBold" as
the font name instead of "Barmeno Extra Bold".

A workaround for this issue is to apply this font style via the Format Text
dialogue instead of using the Formatting Palette.
