Fontcache for network users

Hello!

I am managing 36 iMAC's in a windows environment (Active Directory) with an xserve binded in to it among 500 XP desktops.

The trouble I have is with the actual network users home drive (I think). The network home drive is specified by the active directory (LDAP) which use SMB share to all users (1600), the user accounts are locked down by the workgroup manager on the xserve.

When a network user logs on with an smb homedrive the font menu is not appearing in the WYSIWYG format but everything else works just fine!

I created a new user on the workgroup manager and gave it an afp homedrive. For this user the fonts are appearing fine!

It is driving me mad. I tracked down this to one file which is the fontcache in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/fontcache(12)

this file won't fully build only creates a 40k in size.
For the Local users or the one with the afp it is about 12MB!

I gave full rights to everyone on the test windows account but no avail!

Has anyone heard anything like that before?

Please help
