Fonts blowing up when I edit a report

T

Travis

Hi,

I've got an Access app prepared for me by a friend many years ago who
I am unable to get in contact with. It still works ok, but I have to
change the phone number and address on an invoice report.

For some reason though, when I edit the text, the font blows up.

Actually, it still seems to be 10pt font, but the box scales up or
something. When I go back and edit it, the text once again appears
normal, but after the edit the box once again gets magnified.

As a result, the report is dominated by giant phone numbers and the
like.

What am I doing wrong?

Extra info: I'm using Access 2007, the report was originally written
on XP/2002.

Hi Travis,

I have seen this with embedded Word documents. Is the "text" box
really an embedded Word document? You can tell by right-clicking on it and
choosing Properties. The Property Sheet window will tell you what type of
control it is (Text Box or Unbound Object Frame or something else). If an
unbound object frame, look for the OLE Class property to see what it says.

Yes, that's it. So how do I fix it? Is this just some random
annoying error which might not occur if I edit it on a different
machine or something? I've had a couple of those...

Hi Travis,

I don't seem to recall if I ever figured out what to do about it. If
you can convert the stuff to a regular text box, or several text boxes, that
probably would be best. Or, if the formatting is important and you cannot
work around it with several text boxes and if you can use an Access 2007
database, you could try a text box with it's Text Format set to Rich Text.
Finally if those are not options, you could try adjusting the font sizes in
the documents. Or maybe changing the Unbound Object Frame's Size Mode.

Hope this helps, at least somewhat,
