Fonts chaging from different computers

I am publishing a website and I have downloaded fonts that I like for the
feel that I am going for. My problem is that when I go to computers other
than the one that I am publishing on, the fonts I have downloaded don't show
up, they change to more typical fonts like Times New Roman.

How do I make it so other people see what I intended for them to see and why
would they change?

Each machine viewing your site must have the font installed, other wise the browser will default to
Times Roman, unless the user has set a different default font.

So then how do unique websites keep their unique fonts? Not every website you
go to is time new roman etc. For example for my logo. Do I have to create
in another program as a picture and then insert it?

You have to have the font installed unless you have allow fonts to be downloaded to your machine.

Yes, that's how it is usually done.

You can put any font you want into a graphic, and of course it will look
just the way you intend on the web.

But of course you shouldn't use graphics for everything (because of load
time, search engines, accessibility, etc.) But you're not completely
limited; there are fonts which are installed on almost every reasonably-new
computer. Here's a page with a list:

For body text, you have a good handful of nice choices.

They use fonts they think most people would have.

Also, any site you've seen where the text is not Times Roman, suggests you
do have the font they've used. But that's not the case for everyone. Many
people would possibly delete all fonts except the ones they absolutely need,
since fonts take up memory and system resources like any other part of the
operating system.

If you want to use a decorative font like Olde English (or similar), yes
create an image of it.
