Fonts Clipped when Editing

I don't really know how to explain this other than saying when I click
on a text box to edit, the top half of each line of text disappears.
It reappears when I click off the text box, but it makes it very
difficult to edit text. Changing the font does not fix this problem.
It happens with all fonts.

Here are two JPGs of a screen capture, one while in the text box, and
the other when not.
