Fonts for list numbering between PC and Mac

Hi, a bulleted list with custom bullet font (Wingdings 3) was later
changed to a numbered list. Opening the file in Powerpoint 2004 (Mac)
the former numbered list showed chars from Wingdings 3 instead of the
expected numbers. This looks like a bug but: any hints how to avoid
this?
