Fonts in the toolbar Dropdown List

In the dropdown list of fonts on the toolbar it lists all the foreign
versions of the font like:

Arial Greek
Arial Tur
Courier New Greek
Courier New Baltic

....etc.

However it does not do this in the other MS Office programs. It does not
show these variants in the Windows Fonts folder either (even with "Hide
variations" menu item unticked). Is there a way to stop these variants
showing as they take up a lot of room in my dropdown and it is a pain having
to scroll through a lot more fonts than is necessary.

Version of Office is: Office Pro 2003
Windows version is: WinXP Pro
