fonts not anti-aliased in PowerPoint

I've created a bar chart in the "Chart" server program.

When I use a Fill gradient for the bars none of the text will
anti-alias. When I go back to plain (one-color) bars the text will
anti-alias.

Is there an update to fix this?

Also, is there a PC equivalent to QuickTime transitions? I'd like to
have a Slide Transition that is a cross-fade. My client will be on PC
only.
