Fonts not responding to selection

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

Been using 2008 since it came out. Here's the problem on both an iMac and PowerBook (new):

When I select a font from the menu bar, the font menu or the Formatting palette, a different font comes up - not the one I've selected.

I primarily use PS fonts and have many. Did not happen in Office X.

If a cold restart of you Mac doesn't correct it go to this location while no
Office apps are running:

User|Library|Preferences|Microsoft|Office 2008

Trash the file: Office Font Cache 12

Then see if the problem persists when you launch Word again.
