My PowerPoint font selection menu has gone berserk.

When I try to change a font by using the pull-down menu, it "magically" selects a TOTALLY DIFFERENT FONT.

Stranger still, if I manually type-in the name of the font in the formatting palette, everything woks fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks

When did you last shut down your Mac? What you're describing sounds like a
corrupt font cache. Shutting down -- not just restarting -- normally causes
the caches to be cleared & there are various utilities which will purge font
caches. If the caches don't get cleared periodically the problem continues
to worsen as time goes on.

If the shutdown doesn't correct the problem you can try a utility such as
OnyX, FontNuke, DeepSix [all are free/share-ware] or you can try going to:

User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008

and delete the file named: Office Font Cache (12)

It might also be a good idea to run the Font Book app supplied with OS X &
use the two routines called Validate Fonts & Resolve Duplicates in order to
help avoid further issues.
