Our comany has many documents created in Publisher 2003. When we try to
bring them into Publisher 2007, we get a message saying Load Fonts and
subtitled "The font information below shows what fonts are embedded in your
publication or are unavailable." The "unavailable fonts" are not the same
ones on different PC's.
Has anyone found a method to deal with this other than re-formatting the
entire publication?

There is a check-off in the dialogue that gives you a substitution choice. If
you select a substitution you will have the option to make it permanent.

We tried that, but it seems that the substituted font changes the formatting
in the document and a lot of the 23 pages have to be redone. It seems like
there should be a better solution.

The only other suggestion I have is to locate the missing fonts and install
them.

For the ones currently created there is really no way to make the
unavailable fonts available other than installing onto each computer that
will need them.

The best way to prevent this is to ensure that the only fonts used are those
installed by the operating system and not by any application. Safe fonts
are those that are considered Web safe and there isn't a lot of them. If
those fonts are used then any computer will have them.

It is important that any company standardize on the fonts within that
company and not permit use of any font that isn't installed by Windows.
Most people that create documents or presentations that are shown or printed
on another computer have these issues where fonts are not standardized
especially since not all fonts can be embedded.
